I have been reading the news stories and seeing how Dan Cathy’s seemingly ordinary interview with the Baptist Press suddenly took on a life of its own. Dan Cathy is the CEO of Chick-fil-A. Years ago, I read the autobiography of Dan’s dad, Truett Cathy, It’s Easier to Succeed than to Fail. Considering that Chick-fil-A is a family owned business, there was nothing in the recent interview that should have come as a surprise. As the saying goes, the acorn does not fall far from the tree.

It occurred to me that the over-reaction of the GLBT is a lot like the cows used in the Chick-fil-A ad campaigns. The company is known for its billboards with cows almost as well as it is known for its chicken sandwiches and for being closed on Sundays.

The cows are Holsteins, and as dairy cattle, their lives are not endangered. They are far more likely to be kept alive as contributors to your milkshake than they are to be slaughtered for burgers. The cows are forever making a big media fuss on billboards, acting like mortal peril is imminent, when no one has suggested butchering them at all!

Why is the Jim Henson Company making such a big squawk about severing ties now? If they truly cared about social issues, then they ought to have researched their business partners before signing the contracts. If they did not know what Chick-fil-A was all about before now, then they are dumber (and probably more neurotic) than Telly Monster.

The billboard bovines are poor logicians. One cannot deduce attitudes toward beef consumption based solely on a preference for chicken. Similarly, one should not presume an anti-gay disposition based on a preference for traditional marriage. If that were true, then all gays must hate heterosexuals.

… … do you think that is possible?

In wake of the shootings at the Century 16 Cineplex in Aurora, Colorado, many news stories are now bringing up “Mental Illness.”

From a purely secular standpoint, they are on the right track. From a Biblical standpoint: Close, but no cigar.

Let’s call this what it really is: Spiritual forces of wickedness.

Jesus cast out demons, (also called devils, unclean spirits, or evil spirits). It is impossible to give an exact percentage for how much of his ministry dealt with this for a couple of reasons. Many times the Bible records the healing of “infirmities” without identifying the source. These could be organic or they could be demonic—we cannot know. Another reason is that passages like Mark 3:10 &11 simply refer to “many” demons being cast out. The point is, Jesus knew demons existed and He told His disciples to cast them out. It is likely that His ministry attracted more demonic activity than an average person might encounter, but nothing indicates that demons ever stopped tormenting people.

The apostle Paul delineated four categories of demonic activity in his letter to the Ephesians. These are:
1. rulers (principalities)
2. powers (authorities)
3. world forces of this darkness (the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age)
4. spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places (spiritual powers of evil in the heavenlies; spiritual wickedness in high places)

Because different translations vary slightly, the first term is the one used in the New American Standard, and I have given additional names used by other translators in parentheses. Additionally, earlier in this letter (1:21) Paul had itemized another similar listing, “Far above all rule, and authority, and power, and lordship, and every name having been named, not only in this age, but also in the coming age.: In the King James, it reads, “Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.”

The evidence shows that at least two categories of unclean spirits were at work in Aurora.

One level was personal concerning James Holmes. While not all mentally ill persons are demon-possessed, most violent psychopaths are. Our secular courts do not acknowledge that, but there is a lot they miss. The Batman shooter was wearing body armor, so I rest my case for the violent psychopath charge.

Another level has to do with upper-level forces of darkness. There is a demonic hierarchy. This is demonstrated several places throughout the Bible, but perhaps the best known example is in Daniel chapter 10 which describes an encounter between God’s angels and the prince of the kingdom of Persia. This shows that upper-level demons are assigned to geographic areas and oversee large populations. This is different than possession of just one person.

The Dark Knight Rises shooting is fairly conclusive: There is a demonic ruler of darkness assigned to this region of Colorado and its preferred Modus Operandi is guns. The Columbine school shootings in Littleton, Colorado, in April of 1999 left 15 people dead. Then in December of 2007, a gunman attacked the Youth With A Mission center in Arvada before fleeing 75 miles to the south and opening fire at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs. The death toll for these two incidents was 4. Quick action by Jeanne Assam, who carried a concealed weapon, was credited with keeping the count from going higher. It is interesting that Littleton, Arvada, and Aurora form a triangle around Denver.

It is probable that every major city has a demonic “world force” assigned to it. Because Denver’s seems to show up in the use of firearms and thereby attract heavy media coverage, it may be easier to see it at work there than some other places. For example, it would be harder to identify the influence of an evil or unclean spirit via pharmaceuticals because that method of destruction is more individualized— its mixture with legitimate drug use is more obscure, whereas illegitimate use of a firearm is fairly easy to determine; and because different individuals metabolize drugs with differing effects.

In Western culture, demonic activity continues to be labeled “mental illness.” Jesus told his disciples to pray for deliverance from evil. Matthew 6:13 A literal translation is deliver us from “the evil one,” and would by extension include all that Satan has influenced.

The Church gets pounded from both sides in this. On one hand she is harshly criticized for merely pointing out a connection between mental illness and demonic activity, and on the other hand she is criticized for not stopping it. A Dark Knight has Risen over Denver, and it isn’t Batman.

DFCS, the Division of Family and Children Services, is awash in what the Bible calls strongholds. A stronghold is an incorrect thinking pattern that has molded itself into a warped and perverted worldview. Strongholds are either rooted in or fabricated from deception and error.

Some beliefs start right, but then mix in error. For example, many social workers begin with a heart-desire to help others, but then they mix in unbiblical ideas from humanist psychology. When confronted with a Bible verse like Proverbs 23:14 (You shall beat him with the rod, and shall deliver his soul from death), they will say that God was wrong. Other “child savers” start off with a wrong foundation. Perhaps they were abused as children themselves, and now they are driven by a neurotic need to get even. This unforgiveness makes them vulnerable, and many are deceived by demon spirits.

No matter what the source, these strongholds govern a person’s reactions to daily situations.

Many parents who are falsely accused of child abuse find that trying to work with DFCS is like hitting a brick wall. When one encounters a social worker who is inflexible and irrational to the point that he or she is blind to the truth—or even to the possibility of a parent’s innocence, it is almost certain that a demonic stronghold exists and is exerting control over the situation.

How Does Satan Build a Stronghold?
Every stronghold has a foundation in sin. Satan still uses much the same technique as is recorded in the Genesis account of the original sin in the Garden of Eden. First he plants an appealing idea in a social worker’s mind. It might be, “You are overwhelmed with work! Just put down a little white lie in the report so you can finish faster. It takes too long to substantiate everything, and besides, if it is not true, they probably did something just as bad or worse when it wasn’t reported! It will all balance out.” Or maybe he tells them, “You know this child is probably safe with its parents, so it won’t really hurt anything to keep the case open a bit so that you can show that your department needs more funding. If you have a lot of extra cases, you can ask for a raise.” Or maybe Satan says, “You know in your gut that these parents are bad, even though you don’t have any actual proof. Just exaggerate a little in your report so that they won’t get away with it!”

It does not really matter how Satan spins it, all he has to do is to get the social worker to lie a little on a report. Then he can use their sin to build his stronghold. And if the devil cannot entice the social workers to lie, he can get them to listen to and participate in gossip. Gossip, slander and perjury are all sins. Gossip repeats rumors without facts. Slander is using false charges or even misrepresentations which defame and damage another person’s reputation. Perjury is lying under oath, but it also includes lying on official reports made “in the line of duty.”

Satan uses these to build a stronghold where DFCS promotes unbiblical doctrines and stirs up evil suspicions.

Why DFCS Workers Come Off As Being Haughty
3 If anyone teaches a different doctrine, and doesn’t consent to sound words, the words of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 he is conceited, knowing nothing, but obsessed with arguments, disputes, and word battles, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, 5 constant friction of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth.
1 Timothy 6:3-5.
They come off as haughty because they are conceited as pertains to a doctrine other than the Bible and the teachings of Jesus. They are like the Pharisees, believing they know best.

Can the Strongholds Be Pulled Down?
They could be, if DFCS was willing to repent of their lies. But DFCS is addicted to the empowerment that they derive from their warped and twisted doctrine. Every day that they participate in gossip, slander, perjury, and lies, they give Satan the right to stick around and spread more deception. Furthermore, may judges grant them immunity for many of the lies. There is no natural way to pull down these strongholds. It is tough enough to pull down a stronghold in one’s own life when there is a desire to be rid of it. That is done by casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, (see Ephesians 6). Until DFCS repents or Divine Judgment falls, their core demonic strongholds will remain.

Many people will be very shocked on Judgment Day when their eyes are opened into the spirit realm and they see that DFCS has been run by a horde of what some might call ‘Jezebel’ and ‘Feminist’ spirits that specialize in witchcraft. Witchcraft, at its root, is not about a cauldron of foul-smelling potion. Witchcraft is about using power that was not delegated by God to control the lives of others.

[♦[♦[ Part of the series on How opposes the Teachings of Christ ]♦]♦]

“He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me, scatters.
Luke 11:23

Child Protective Services does not gather with God. I guess you could call them scatterbrained. The Message Bible cuts to the chase on this verse: “This is war, and there is no neutral ground. If you’re not on my side, you’re the enemy; if you’re not helping, you’re making things worse.” CPS certainly qualifies as having the heart and brain of a scatterer who makes things worse.

I am now 30 posts into this area of study. I had intended to go through all four gospels and document everything that jumped out at me in regard to CPS being in opposition to the teaching of Jesus. It is time for a radical change in the process.

CPS is bad because its foundations are wrong. There is no point in trying to reform it. It does not support God’s rules for child rearing, therefore it is anti-God and an antichrist. It does not gather families in a redemptive, gracious approach but scatters them.

Child custody cases constitute at least a third, and in some jurisdictions half of all civil litigation. (Alvare) Can you say “Love of Money?” This provides work not only for the obvious lawyers, judges and courthouse staffing, but also for psychotherapists, mediators, counselors, social workers, daycare centers, and more.

(F)amily dissolution breeds a host of societal ills for government to solve. Virtually every major social pathology, from violent crime to drug abuse to truancy, is directly attributable to family breakdown and fatherless homes more than any single factor, surpassing race and poverty.
(Blankenhorn)

Every time CPS damages a family, they broaden the breeding ground for social pathologies. The utensils they use are right out of the devil’s toolbox: Lies, deception, and fear.

CPS is heavily infiltrated by two closely related spirits: radical feminism and witchcraft. Radical feminism is generally understood. Witchcraft needs to be defined, however, because I am not talking about a Harry Potter fantasy. Witchcraft, in its basic definition, pertains to power that is not given or delegated by God which is used to control another person. It is the use of illegitimate authority to manipulate another person.

I am changing the focus of this Bible study series to explore this area more fully. Future posts will follow a different format.
